India has seen many upheavals and disturbing times in its 70 yrs of independence. But never has there been such a simmering sense of disillusionment and feeling of insecurity amongst the Muslims.
So disheartening is the present day situation that a person like me who always spoke against religious parties on either side of the spectrum is being compelled to rethink about my stand.
In 2014 elections the BJP was able to prove that they can win and win big by pushing minorities in a corner. Their victory was indeed a shocker for the minority community but what is more terrifying is that the so called SECULAR parties are now taking cue from this and have now decided to move ahead by trampling over this “insignificant section” of Indian society.
How else does one explain that out of 28 RS seats not one was awarded to a Muslim by the “SECULAR BLOC”? This despite the fact that BJP, that is quite vocal on their Minority stand, could manage 2 out of around 23 seats for them. Why was a man of Dr Shakeel Ahmad stature not nominated?
Just last year the Muslims played a very crucial role in getting the maha gatbandhan to power in Bihar. I would like to warn these so called secular parties( from congress to RJD) that keeping such short a memory or living in this disillusionment that “MUSALMAAN TO BJP KO HARANE KE LIYE JHAK MAAR KE HUMARE PAAS AAYEGA (मुसलमान तो बीजेपी को हराने के लिए झक मार के हमारे पास आएगा)” may cost them dearly.
If we can come together to defeat the bjp in Bihar it wont be that impossible to turn the tables if need be…
Would still not suggest making a “Muslim” party but would like appeal to all Muslim leaders from Mr Asaduddin Owaisi to Mr Badruddin Ajmal, all Ulemas and all Muslims who are contributing to the society in their specific fields that let us come together and assert our being an equally important part of this nation.
It’s the time we make a loud statement that neither are we mere vote banks nor will be shoved aside anymore. We belong here as well… n we are very much here to stay.
