Vice President of the World Health Organization (WHO) for the Middle East Jawad Al-Mahjour congratulated the kingdom of Saudi Arabia on organizing a successful Haj, which was free of epidemic diseases.

At a joint press conference with Health Minster Tawfiq Al-Rabiah, Al-Mahjour said WHO expresses great appreciation and thanks to all personnel working in the field of health and volunteers for their great efforts in serving pilgrims.

“The WHO responded to a request of the Saudi Health Ministry regarding providing a work team during this Haj season in the field of epidemiology, disease control and communication of risk. The organization stressed importance of procedures of decreasing risks regarding the public health applied by the Saudi Ministry of Health in securing a safe Haj season in accordance with requirements of the International Regulations (2005),” he added.

Al-Mahjour thanked the health minister for inviting WHO and lauded the ministry’s readiness and preparations for the Haj.
